Every May, Ludlow Festival’s offspring – the Ludlow Spring Festival – pitches its marquees, readies its producers and has its brewers champing at the bit to share their knowledge and over 200 real ales in the Festival Pub. Proving that our age-old traditions of brewing, baking and sausage-making are not only alive and well, but positively thriving in 21st-Century Britain, the Spring Festival has a clear and delicious focus.
Let’s start by discussing the ale for a second – there are 200 different real ales to try in the Festival Pub and a chance to meet the brewers to have a chat about what they do and how they do it. In addition to all the real ale there are stalls featuring the food and ingredients of local producers, along with live music for entertainment, 200 classic cars to marvel at and it all takes place in the historic Ludlow Castle and its grounds.
It’s not just a whole lot of browsing as there are also plenty of hands-on lessons for children and famous chefs are on hand giving demonstration and to teach you how to make tasty goodies, including Shropshire brunch, a traditional afternoon tea, interesting canapes and pork pies to name a few.
